Solfeggio Frequencies, 2023
by Elena Juárez
About the project
In Solfeggio Frequencies, Elena Juarez explores the intersection of sound, geometry, and color through nine generative audiovisual compositions. Created with TouchDesigner and a live-manipulated audio oscillator, the series activates specific Solfeggio frequencies—tones historically linked to spiritual healing and energetic alignment. Each piece corresponds to a different frequency, a chakra, a geometric figure, and a color, forming an intense and synesthetic work.
However, Solfeggio Frequencies also challenges the assumption that these sounds are solely tools for healing and tranquility. Juarez subverts the notion that binaural tones and resonant frequencies always induce calm, instead revealing their potential to disturb and alter consciousness in unexpected ways. By pushing the limits of perception, she exposes the dual nature of vibrational energy: one that can both harmonize and unsettle.
By synchronizing sound with visual structures, Juarez materializes the vibrational essence of each frequency, inviting the viewer to explore both the sensory and esoteric dimensions of resonance. The interplay between algorithmic precision and intuitive composition reflects the contrast between technological process and spiritual inquiry.
Through this work, Juarez reimagines the ancient practice of sound tuning within a contemporary digital landscape, creating an experience that oscillates between serenity and disruption

About the artist
Elena Juárez is a visual and new media artist based in Madrid, working at the intersection of technology, interactivity, and live audiovisual creation. Her practice spans generative graphics, interactive installations, and visual compositions for musicians, dance and theater companies, designers, and arts institutions.
Juárez’s work is driven by a fascination with transforming space - both physical and conceptual through geometric compositions and abstract narratives.
Sound plays a central role in her process, intricately linked to programmed parameters that allow for real-time audiovisual creation. Her approach explores ways in which sound can be seen and image can be heard, bridging coding with sensory experience. With a background in Fine Arts specializing in visual media, Juárez is deeply engaged with experimental and digital technologies in performance and installation.
Beyond her artistic practice, Juárez is dedicated to education and knowledge-sharing. She teaches technology and interactivity at IED Madrid and has led talks, courses, and workshops in institutions such as Réplika Teatro and UPM. She is also curating new media cycles at La Casa Encendida, fostering dialogue around contemporary digital practices.
